Example 1
Find the equation of the line graphed below.
Step 1. Find b
(0,-2) is the y-intercept so b = -2
Step 2. Find slope, m
rise = 3 and run = 1 so m = 
or 3
Step 3. Write the equation using the slope-intercept form.
y = mx + b
y = 3x - 2
